This changed a while ago.

One way of still getting 1.25 per $ is with the SPG Amex. It earns one point per $ then you can transfer to BA (and many others) at a 1 to 1 ratio plus they throw in 5,000 bonus points when you transfer 20,000, effectively a 1.25 rate.
