I'm in Brisbane and have flown twice on BA16 and haven't been able to check in online for my QF flight. I was able to check in for the BA flight. On one occasion, after I'd checked in online I arrived at the airport to find I'd been upgraded to CW. Your status may allow you to log in to Qantas MMB and select seats on the Qantas leg. I don't know whether it will allow you to do the same on ba.com for the BA flight. (Obviously you can at check-in, but I mean I don't know if it will let you do so beforehand.)
