This seems ridiculous - I rent for 2-3 weeks at a time and I've never experienced this with, say, National. Is this really a thing?
Surely 'excessive miles' depends on the duration of the rental? It seems a stretch to call 500 miles 'excessive' on anything more than a 1 day rental when unlimited mileage is advertised.
