I pretty much stopped going there after having too many crews push in front of me. IMO it only makes sense if you're arriving by light rail or park very close to that area of the general ramp. You also need to have already done OLCI and printed a boarding pass just in case something goes wrong with the kiosks there, although the kiosks can be useful if you're about to miss a check in deadline and can park very close for a few minutes. At least once I did this: park illegally, print boarding pass, move car and hunt for space, race to TSA elite security at the main terminal and then race to gate.
