I have the same problem at most Hilton hotels with my Apple devices. When I take my wife and daughter with me, theirs have the same problem. My android phone and Windows laptop connect without issue. I'm currently at a Doubletree which uses a different connection option but it still lags during the connection.

I found that if you just leave it for a while or put it in airplane mode and leave Wifi on of course, it will connect eventually. It used to frustrate me at first, but now I know how to deal with it.
