Great thread. I've been curious about the Baltics myself.

I was thinking of just going to Tallinn next summer, but now I'm thinking it might be nice to do Vilnius-Kaunas-Riga-Tallinn and then maybe St. Petersburg and finally Helsinki.

Sounds like Deustchebahn might do the trick transit-wise?
