It is pretty risky for Vauramo as CEO of a non-Chinese airline (flying into many Chinese cities) to pull that crap.
It just takes one pissed off Chinese party official with power (whose trip to Nice to his yacht get cancelled or delayed) - and suddenly Finnair finds themselves into a host of problems. Chinese ATC can get nasty; some management staff may not get visa anymore; the Chinese media jumps onto AY...the list goes on and on...
