? What are you looking at? I cannot recall ever arriving at a tarmac stand on CX845, including when I took it most recently a week and a half ago (Gate 28).

Fwiw, at least the last 7 days it has docked at a regular stand each time:
*Today (Wed): Gate 24
*Yesterday (Tues): Gate 4
*Mon: Either Gate 29, 27 or 25
*Sun: Gate 17
*Sat: Gate 25
*Fri: Gate 3
*Thurs: Gate 4

I could keep going, but am highly confident saying that these early morning US arrivals as a general rule do NOT get remote stands. FWIW, I perhaps have landed early morning on CX flights from North America 50 times or more in the 8+ years I've been flying Cathay. That'd be about 6 per year, it might even be more than that. Whilst I don't have records, I cannot recall a single time having a remote stand. Perhaps it occurred once and I cannot remember. But if this occurred it would be absolutely abnormal.

Haha, no you cannot assume this....because there IS transit security! An onward boarding pass is also required to get through.

Once you're through transit security you are free to find your departure gate...

I recommend spending some time searching in both this forum, and the general HKG one to get you up to speed. It seems like you're getting erroneous information somewhere and there's a lot of good resources around here. Tons of info about transit security, lounges, what to do in the airport, and pretty much anything else you can think about either specific to CX or specific to HKG.
