This thread is getting way too personal, and whoever made that decision will have been aware of exactly how much it costs to have an A340 sitting around unused.
Not to mention that I would rather fly home late than fly home on OH-LQF. Everyone here wanted them gone even more than Finnair did.
LQF was close to end of her maintenance lifespan.
A full refurbish of airframe, engines, ldg gear etc. would have been an economical suicide.
