FWIW I just made a SkyMiles booking with all segments operated by KE, sent a DM to @Delta asking for the partner conf # and was able to pull it up on the KE web site using the 6-character locator they provided. Similar to as described in post #4 here:

my DL profile has my first, middle, and last names, and I had to put both first and middle names into the "first name" text field on the KE page (with or without a space, I think it worked both ways)
So perhaps this has been improved (and it does sound like OP's situation had some other complication, but thought this might be worth mentioning anyway)
Booked a trip recently on the phone with one segment on KE. At time of booking got the 8 digit number from the DL agent. All segments appear on my DL reservation, but, of course, can't select seat on KE. Had a problem on KE website, but that was only until I realized they used FIRSTMIDDLE for first name. That worked and I was able to select seats which now show on DL reservation.
