Aero sucks in general. If I had to choose solely between GUIs, I'd choose SNAPP all day. Aero was an improvement from running a flight completely in SHARES, but it's nowhere near as robust.

HDQ, I think you're thinking of FastAir. From what I've heard, FastAir was an extension of your terminal program. SNAPP is a website in FireFox that interfaces with Deltamatic, so it's kind of the same. When I left DGS, you could still drop down to DLterm and do what you needed to do. They are removing that ability in phases. I don't think UA is doing the same with Aero.

If you ever wonder why ticket counter and gate agents might be taking longer to do simple things, we're losing access to DLTerm even for basic entries like looking up a flight's status or booking level.

Really? You believe this? SNAPP is completely designed to limit the agents. Things I could do before in DLterm.. I can't do in SNAPP because it doesn't permit it and would require a call to GAC/GTC if I didn't know how to do it manually. Plus, your two quotes contradict yourself. Is it a restriction or is it a bonus?

Here's my take of it, DLterm is a TOOL. Just because you have a power drill doesn't mean that you should use it for everything. Yes, a screwdriver is slower and more laborious, but when you need a fine touch, you can't beat it. Day to day operations, SNAPP worked great, but when it hit the fan, DLterm for the win.

It was never SOP. You should have always booked class of service, but it took too long/pain to remember class of services when you've got a huge line because management won't pay to hire/retain talent. So, if there was availability, Y/F/J was where it was. DLTerm had a command to do this... called ISFIX. Was 10x faster than SNAPP.

Easier for agents and making it easier for Dullta to hire anyone off the street to do the job with little to no training (though the endless clicking around is likely to be only slower, no faster, for all but simple things, and surely leave many things simply forgotten and no longer doable), but worse for passengers, esp. given Dullta's extreme aversion to testing anything before it's rolled out live.

This. It's so DL/DGS/Outsourcers can hire people, pay them less, train them minimally cuz the system will do the hard work for them. BONUS: No Waivers, No Favors. Don't think, the computer can do it for you! Would you like Fries & Economy Comfort with that?

SNAPP is written by the same people who write mainframe terminal software. All it does is provide a point and click interface to the mainframe. So, instead of Mainframe -[direct access DLTERM]-> Agent, it's now Mainframe -[Glue Logic/Webserver] -> Agent.

I can't wait until SNAPP crashes and crashes hard. It will absolutely cripple DL because they won't have enough GAC agents to babysit every agent because nobody will be trained in a simple A@O or AQA.

But, hey, when that happens we'll just drop down to Cornerstone! At least the agents that worked in CUTE stations prior to SNAPP will be able to ground handle flights. No help in our station, as anyone who used Cornerstone quit because they got sick of being resold to the lowest bidder.

Man, I'm happy I got out of DGS.
