This was brought up to me as well, and I have no interest in that annual fee. It doesn't offer me anything I don't have with my platinum card, and I'm definitely not going to get a card to use just to make people think I'm rich. I've seen where people are wanting the card just to have it, but I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.
