I'm not positive this is right as I have had a gate change (at ORD) 2-3 weeks ago that reflected on my app boarding pass. I know this because I printed a paper BP when I got to ORD and then, when I got to that gate and saw a different departure there I referenced the app boarding pass and saw the new gate.
