You shouldn't have any major problems. But carry cash.

The main issues I've seen are automated machines like parking and public transport use... those usually require a chip and PIN. So even chip and signature cards from the US won't work in those.

If you can get a chip card, do it. But you can get by without one if you have a bit of cash (like you always should IMO).
