This is a hard question to answer, since it depends on personal preferences to a large degree. Summer can be hot and crowded. Winter can be cold, but is usually not crowded at all. (We just returned from a trip in late December and found the weather to be quite mild this year.) I have not been in the fall or spring, but I imagine those times would be beautiful and probably not nearly as crowded as the summer.
