There's nothing to read on 'pushing'. I think someone just took that word from my post above where I said that adding stopovers in ATL pushed it into the A fare. All I meant was it pushed the price up to a higher fare, which in this case was a first class fare (about $2000 all in).
Basically, a fare basis beginning with 'A' will give first class on the long-haul. A fare basis beginning with 'I' will give business class on the long-haul. Ordinarily an A fare will be more expensive than the equivalent I fare.
