They could probably implement that functionality in their own mobile apps on Android if they wanted. I don't know if they have, however.
In any case, that function in general hasn't been well promoted. I still amaze the cashiers at my local Walgreens when I tap with my loyalty card for instance. They occasionally ask me for my phone number too thinking that I didn't enter it.
