Thanks! I made a typo in the post you quoted (now corrected).
The 2.5 hour connection is from AC YYZ-SFO to UA SFO-EWR. Given the 7-hour connection before the AC flight, I could try to move to an earlier one if necessary. The UA flight is a red-eye departing at 12:35am.
But yeah...I'm still 50/50 on whether I should risk this...
