Berlin is a wonderful venue for classical music. The great Berlin Philharmonic is playing Brahms and Bruckner in their unique hall the Philharmonie during your dates. There are three separate opera companies.

Opera is not "concert in costumes" as it often is in the USA; the productions are often probing concepts that delve into the psychological aspects. The acting is stressed as much as the singing ("personenregie").

The Staatsoper (maybe the more traditional) is doing Mozart's Figaro and Verdi's Macbeth, during your dates (ballet too), the Komische has Harry Kupfer's take on the famous Johan Strauss operetta Fledermaus, and best of all, the Deutsche Oper is doing the brilliant/outrageous Hans Neuenfel's production of Nabucco, which features a chorus of giant bumblebees in its interpetation of the biblical battle between the Hebrews and the Babylonians
