You might want to look at the Ritz card instead (or in addition). It would give instant Gold status for the first year which you can keep for 10K spend. If you are going to be in a full service Marriott for your 10 days - it would mean lounge access. Despite the price tag of the card, after the $300 airline expenditure return it is not a bad deal.

It does give you 5pt/$ for Marriott spend like the regular one, but add some travel spend at 2pt/$ and 10% annual points bonus.
