Interesting question. Outside of the US, is a non-smoking room a "guarantee" or a "request"? I'd say that, if they guarantee a non-smoking room type, then yes. On the other hand, if they "note the request for a non-smoking room and will try to honor it subject to availability", then no.
That said, King beds are one area where marriot is light years ahead of SPG
