What a bummer.
They sometimes allow it and sometimes not. I was lucky so far and every time they allowed, I did it on the following routes (all separate tickets):

TLV-IST > IST-NRT
NRT-IST > IST-FCO
NRT-IST > IST-LGW

I also managed to interline on separate tickets from other airlines:

SQ > TK
MH > TK

but every time the connection time was at least 3 hours.

BTW what happens to the pax coming from EZE during the 90 min layover in GRU? Do they stay on the plane or have to disembark?
