Hey passy777, Nice image and thanks for posting. ^
I have never seen one that I am aware of but I have seen the similar occurring Sundogs...however, this is what I believe is called Circumzenithal arc, effectively some very high ice crystals have decided to put on a show and align exactly the right way to allow the light to create this wonder.
I didn't realise they were more common than rainbows (every day is a school day)

but apparently we are all not looking high enough in the sky to notice them more...
More details here;

Really lovely image passy ^ , I especially like that the red arc is on the bottom (although on the outer ring of the spectrum. A rainbow has red at the top but still outer arc...(a double rainbow has the second higher rainbow reversing the colours.
So, everyone, go outside tonight while the sun is low, the ice crystals are aligned and the temperature is cold enough to allow this and enjoy a natural peep show...
Any other weather phenomenon lately during your travels?
I'm finally flying myself again in a week and will hope to get some spectacles while enjoying this flying lark we all love.
