Yes, I've heard that the AUP pricing also includes the differential to a non-HBO fare though. Not sure if that's the case - don't think it is for POUG.

With seat selection and same-day flexibility, most of the time, I'd say that the standard fares are better value even if it hurts to pay more than you need for exactly the same product.
