The CBP officer I had my interview with was very friendly but practical. He warned me that some CBP/CBSA officers can be real pains and sticklers about things, so declare everything and let the officer sort it out.

I like my GE/Pre benefits, so I do. The last time I crossed back into the US from CAN, I declared a few bags of ketchup potato chips and a few Timmy's K-cups. The officer said they were fine and just waved me on, didn't even need to produce them.
