If you are used to W please do yourself the favor and not stay at this old and uninspiring hotel. But if you do, here are the answers to your question.
1) Songshan Airport or Songshan area? Songshan Airport may be able to reach by MTR, but keep in mind that Brown-line is small trains, always full, and they do NOT allowed big luggage anymore.
2) Unlike what others have told you here I would not want to walk from Main Station to Hotel if you have any thing more than a carry-on. Just hop on a taxi and pay the $70 NTD (of course the driver might not appreciate it).
