This is what I was told by cabin crew on my flight to LAX in 2015 on the A380. I would think the last thing you want when your busy dealing with paperwork on the flight deck is a visit. I went for a cockpit visit after we landed and it was very enjoyable.
I think it's very much at the Captains discretion.
Bear in mind that the CC sometimes assume you can't go before a flight and just say no without asking the pilots. However, as long as the timing of the request is reasonable most will happily ask for you and pass back the answer - the pilots are the ones who can judge whether they have time or not.
