Does anyone know whether you can accrue APD/SP when you purchase Airpoints Dollars on a Air NZ credit card?

Would be interested, as I'm going to be a bit short on SP to renew my Gold, so wondering whether I could buy APD on my Air NZ CC to earn the additional SP that I need, then just use the APD at a later date for something else.
