It appears that the fee is $26.00 + tax, per night. Personally, most of the services/perks included are of no value to me. I already get the Wi-Fi with status, use cell for calls, not interested in golf, water sports, etc; I imagine most guests will not partake of many of the "extras." As for "free" transportation to Diplomat Golf Club, that was always provided.
Will they honor reservations made prior to addition of resort fee and waive the extra charge?
The resort fee is fraudulent IMO. A Gold or Diamond gets nothing of value. Even the offer for "free" beach lounges comes with a big "gotcha"... the umbrella will cost you $20/day!
This property disappointed me in sevaral ways besides the above noted charge for an umbrella on the beach. We returned to our room one day at around 4PM and the room hadn't been touched by housekeeping yet! The breakfast buffet, although excellent, was pricey even after a $15/person discount. The place is huge... lots of ball throwing in the pool which should be a no-no.
