I have booked a vehicle for late June in Cabo for a week. By pure luck, I stumbled upon an article about Car/Rental Insurance scams in Mexico. This peeked my interest, so I did a search about the Mexico rental insurance topic and it seems there is a different answer/perspective from almost everyone that contributes to online chats on the subject. Quite bizarre and frustrating.

I plan on using my AMEX and I have already found that my car insurance provider's policy (from USAA) does not apply in Mexico.

Does anyone have a suggestion of how to handle this Mexico rental insurance topic before I arrive in Cabo? Buying it at the counter seems to be, more or less, price gouging. Thanks in advance for your help.
