Weekend stay: April 2016

Hi,

Had a weekend stay here. Most of my observations are more or less the same as what previous posters have mentioned on the property. This property is used by the KLM and AA crew (most probably due to its rate)

Location: This really is not the place to stay if your main purpose is to visit downtown Milan, as it takes close to 45 mins just to travel from the hotel to the Duomo. I did a day trip to Como Lake, and that took me close to 2 hours OW doing a tram (to Certosa station - becareful as I could not find any ticket machine), 2 changes on the S-trains and than the local regional train. I also found the area rather suspicious - let's say I would have felt unsafe if i had gone out at night. I think it is a upcoming area - but basically it did look run down in my opinion.

Room: No upgrade - given a room on the HHonors floor (both 4th and 5th floor) with a normal King size room. Size was ok with 2 bottles of water provided complimentary and refilled (one still, one sparkling). Simple coffee/tea making facilities available. The room overlooked the main street, but the street is rather quiet, so no street noise.
Bathroom size was ok, with good water pressure. Though the bath was rather useless, the water stop was not efficient, as water just leaked out.
English TV channels were limited - mainly some sports and news channels. Also the quality of reception was rather bad for some channels.

Internet: Not the fastest - nor any upgrade for Diamond members. For me it was sufficient for what I needed to do.

Breakfast: Complimentary for Diamond. Spread was ok, but quality is on the bad side, especially the scrambled eggs - tasteless and rather plastic texture - lots of guests took it, but I saw lots of them not finishing it. They had some salad leaves, but it seems like it has been reused as you could see a rather large amount of leaves already brown in colour. I think a lot of the food was recycled from the day before (just my feeling on seeing how it's presented)

Staff: In general staff were helpful and friendly. Did not have any language issue.

One good thing - one of the best DT cookies I've had for sometime from DT. The cookies were still nice and crispy the next day.

I will not pay more than 80 Euro per night for this property - I guess they can charge a higher rate during the week but in the weekend they will have issues asking for 100 Euro pernight, not really the place for tourist unless you plan to have a car. Even for visiting areas outside of the center, it is rather inconvenient (they do provide shuttle to the Certosa station and the tram stop).
Will return only if no other options or if I have a car.

Cheers!
