What about selecting exit rows - possible to do so before OLCI or when OLCI opens it you call them? Or is it only possible at airport?
Actually if you book via an OTA, you can select seats for free by calling to the hotline (regardless of FFP status if any and ticket class). If you book direct from MH website, you can't (have to pay to select seats in advance) and have to wait for OLCI to open up to select seats. I always book via OTAs cause of credit card promotions and such.

For us, Emergency exit rows are restricted, you can't select it even in OLCI or by calling in. I always have to ask for the seats during counter check-in on the day of the flight at the airport. However I'm not sure if Platinum members have better experience though.

I guess it sucks to be in MH... but as a leisure traveler I can't complain.
