Courtyard in Downtown Louisville -- Smelly?
I have a new client in Louisville so I'm there about once every 4 - 6 weeks now. The first time I booked myself at the Courtyard downtown. I've traveled for the past 10 years for my line of work, and this was only the 2nd time I've had to request a different room due to a really bad smell. It smelled like the car of someone with horrible BO. The front desk agent said there were no other rooms so I spoke w/ a Plat Agent and she rebooked me at the Marriott a few blocks away. That was a great hotel so I stayed there the next 2 times.
The last time I went up I thought I'd give the Courtyard another try since it's closer to our client's office. Once again, the smell was too much to handle. I was afraid the smell would rub off on me! They were able to put me in another room, which smelled fine.
I thought it was strange that both times, I had a smelly room. And it just so happened that they were both corner "upgraded" rooms. Someone at the hotel mentioned that they had actually had a good number of complaints regarding the smell, and that it may be in the duct work? I noticed that the room I was moved to was in the middle of the building and had a standalone A/C unit, so that would make sense.
But has anyone else stayed here and experienced this as well? Or do I just have a sensitive nose? I can't imagine anyone staying in those corner rooms over night, or the hotel not doing anything about it even if they've received multiple requests to change rooms from more than 1 person.
