I'm having friends who speak Chinese write things on cards for me to show when I go out. This time I'm doing a Thursday-Monday so it's gonna be two boring days in Changsha. I don't want to starve, and really hope I can find an English speaking restaurant anywhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions of places where they will surely speak English? This time I'm staying at the crowne plaza which I think is in a more touristy (or as touristy as it gets anyway) area where the Sheraton and Intecontinental are also located. Good luck me
I don't think you need to bother with note cards because downtown Changsha is pretty easy to figure out on your own, ordering noodles is not rocket science whether or not English menus are available, and your hotel people should be able to give you some good ideas. In short, there's no need to stress about this.
@110pgl: "Mandarin" refers to a spoken dialect, "Chinese" is the term to use when discussing the written language.
