Getting ready for my second run on this route now and trying to get my stuff in order.
I'm having friends who speak Chinese write things on cards for me to show when I go out. This time I'm doing a Thursday-Monday so it's gonna be two boring days in Changsha. I don't want to starve, and really hope I can find an English speaking restaurant anywhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions of places where they will surely speak English? This time I'm staying at the crowne plaza which I think is in a more touristy (or as touristy as it gets anyway) area where the Sheraton and Intecontinental are also located. Good luck me
The cards are a great idea. Long before the Beijing Olympics, we had most things written in Mandarin by our hosts because no one outside the hotel spoke English. (The first time we landed in Beijing all we got was a big 'Hello'... and nothing else.)
