Sticking to A380 routes it is relatively easy to get F and J. It's the cities that only get 777 service that seem to have limited space released on them (from what I have seen at least), whether it is South Africa or Japan, as well as certain SE Asian cities.
Not so true while getting either F/J to DXB is relatively and easy task it's the on going leg that is very very difficult. And slim on the the go, waiting especially to the last three days things do open up but I can tell you that DXB to JNB is a very highly traveled route
But as you say stick to the 380 routes for best results.
