https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/n...cmnts-eng.aspx - all requirements refer to "valid government-issued identification". If it's expired, it's no longer valid.

https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/air-passeng...cklist-563.htm clearly states "Get passports or check ID expiry dates before your trip".
