I joked that I promised I would not book that flight and the person answered: "yay, that's at least one of 700 GGL who will not be taking my seats". We were definitely joking, but while this might be an entirely wrong supposition, I would tend to assume that the number was not entirely random although it sounds lower than what several people seemed to believe upthread (although again, that was with old rules and new rules make the status harder to obtain in the first place).
Bit surprised by this, feels like a few hundred on here alone, but that's probably perception over reality... How many people working the GGL line? 700 doesn't seem a large customer base for a set-up like that, even if a lot of them are frequent travellers.

Saw a recent BA leaflet for BAEC stating that there are over 7 million BAEC members, of which over 647,000 are Bronze and higher (enjoying starting their journey with priority check-in apparently). The latter piece of data was from the end of 2013 though. The leaflet is on top of the newspaper rack in T5 GF, or at least it was a couple of weeks ago.
