Well, roll the dice if you like, but take it from a fellow 6-footer, you'll be kicking yourself before the plane has left the gate. $9/hr to avoid the regular HD legroom is the best money you'll ever spend.
To answer your question, there are pros and cons to each of the Preferred seats on this beast;
IN ROW 18
None of these seats have as much extra legroom as 30/50 ABC/HJK, but they're not exit-row so they're not as cold.
As this isn't a galley or washroom row, you won't have FAs and other passengers all up in your business all night.
If you have an aisle, expect bruised shoulders by the end of boarding, as the aisle is narrow and everyone from row 19 back has to push past you.
IN ROW 30 + 50:
ABC/HJK have several feet of legroom, but I find it gets *really* cold next to the exit door.
C/H are aisles, still with the huge legroom, but you won't go 30 minutes without getting bumped by an FA or another passenger.
D-G are bulkhead seats, which means considerably less legroom than A-C/H-K. Your feet will be up against a hard wall.
Also worth noting that every Preferred row on this aircraft is a bassinet row, which does increase your chances of sitting next to a crying baby considerably.

Just came off AC156 which is a 777HD. Was in row 50 and while the legroom is excellent, the tray table in the arm rest reduces seat width. Also near the washroom so lots of traffic and cold draft. I think I prefer the preferred seats up front for a day flight and the exit row if you want to sleep.
