I'm in the same boat (looking to do a date change after 1st segment flown) and tend to think this is good advice. My only question with date changes is wouldn't you be limited to alternate dates which only have the same fare basis (Y1ED5B), and if that is the case, couldn't JAL (or AA) just never file this fare basis again? Sorry if this is a noob question.
