Although I haven't had a chance to use this, I wanted to chime in and say it's a "pilot" so far two complaints. Which is good because during a pilot they are obviously still working out the bugs. In a few years this will be the norm in accessing rooms. Just like none of us use real keys at hotels anymore (remember the key compartments behind front desks that had all the room keys) and just like most of us don't use paper boarding passed anymore - let alone have paper tickets issued.
So please let's not have everyone "hate" on this but instead realize that it is a work in progress.

This "pilot" has been ongoing since at least last May (that's when I was first invited to use it).
1. They should not implement until it works (see report above about guest being left locked out in hallway).
2. After ten months of "piloting" it ought to work.
