CX do every announcement in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Except the flight crew announcements, most often (it seems) done in cheery Strine and even then I feel like the cabin crew are carefully repeating the words in Mandarin and Cantonese. I can see the commercial and practical need, but ye gods is it annoying when your IFE is paused two or three times over 10 minutes for something not-safety-critical.

I think this is where you are not an average person, whose sense of time may well be such that after 5 minutes they start wondering how long this will be, it feels like nearly 15 minutes to many of them, etc. Announcing "probably 15 minutes wait" and leaving everyone exactly 15 minutes before saying "Here we go!" feels cold and un-informative to many people no matter how efficient it might be.
