I don't really mind pilots keeping passengers informed but I do wish it could be done in a way so that it doesn't interrupt the entertainment unless it is a very important message.

Another thing that really kills me is that if you watch a movie and doze off, the aircraft hits turbulence and the pilot comes on to ask everyone to strap in - you will then find your self not only woken up by someone shouting into your ears but also deaf for a few minutes. Who sets the volume on the announcements?
