Can anyone think of any reason this wouldn't work? Has tried this and run into issues? Will AA agents have a problem checking the bags in the middle of the leg (after the completion of AA6387/BA813 but before the checked bag cutoff time for AA135)?
I've done it with AA and with BA at LHR on my CPH-LHR-US trips. As long as I got the LHR-recovered item into AA/BA at LHR before the baggage drop cut-off time at LHR, it worked out fine for me. With AA, sometimes the AA security contractors or check-in reps at LHR would wonder what's up, but that was no show-stopper for me. My biggest issue doing this was that sometime the luggage recovery at LHR went too slow for comfort -- but that was when there was a line of customers looking to recover their bags from the same place.
