Even on domestic flights, there can be a scrum for F passengers trying to board as soon as possible to get overhead space. They obviously do not pay for checked bags. But I often have to place my bags in Y cabin even when seated in F, because all the overhead bin space is full and have to swim upstream to retrieve my bags later upon landing.
