I'll be flying down to NZ in a couple of weeks. Due to my preparation for a move right before the trip, I haven't been able to do much research or planning for the trip, other than booking flights to AKL. So I was thinking of trying to book flights to CHC and WEL to visit them during my visit. Would it be expensive to book such flights on very short notice (even walk-up)? Also is it practical to book such flights online from the hotel and get an electronic ticket?

I'd probably be visiting these places for a day before returning to AKL or onward to the next city.

How easy or hard is it to get to the cities from airports for CHC and WEL?

And one more question--just where in AKL do I need to pay departure taxes when leaving the country?
