OP, I am in the same boat as you.
I haven't read the all the threads but I mainly bring my own food now and order the fruit plate, even on trans-pac (except for SYD).
I don't usually eat carbs but these are the few times I will bring a wrap or sandwhich, along with salmon/beef jerkey, almonds, protein bar, fruit/veggies. Although it's not as great as a hot meal, it serves my purpose.
