On long haul I like that BA has announcements at the beginning and end of the flights, and silence inbetween. This is very nice, especially on the overnight from western Canada to LHR to enable sleep. An example is if there is turbulence, the seatbelt sign comes on but that's it.
On Air Canada the sign would come on, followed by an announcement in English and French to put your seatbelt on. It's very disruptive to sleep, when there can be many announcements during the night like that. Sometimes there is an expectation of turbulence that never materializes, so my sleep gets disrupted by the PA, but not by turbulence.
