It is important to remember that in the Aadvantage program, the mileage earning is based on how the ticket reads, not on the metal of the airplane flown. If you fly on a JJ airplane, but you buy the ticket with AA flight numbers, then the American accrual rules are used.

This is different from United's program, where earning depends on the name painted on the side of the airplane.
