Bump - it's getting down to the wire.
I don't recommend booking an award - pulling points - and canceling. The activity will no longer count, and the last activity date will revert to the previous last activity date - even on the customer service's screen. I tried it as an experiment.
I wonder if this works: Book an award a ways out to barely hold the door open, and before the award rez date, have lunch at a Hyatt restaurant - being careful to do all the things necessary to nail the points down - then cancel the award stay reservation?
